Bumblebee

Overview

Bumblebee is an open-source security tool used internally by Perplexity to protect developer systems and now released publicly.[6] It is a read-only inventory collector for macOS and Linux endpoints that scans npm, PyPI, Go modules, MCP configs, editor extensions, and browser extensions without invoking package managers or executing code.[6] Security-conscious teams should care because it gives them a low-risk, high-coverage snapshot of all AI-related tooling and dependencies running on developer machines.
